Founded in 2016 in Chandigarh, India, now based in GTA, Oorja Danceworks began with a simple yet powerful mission: to make high-quality, diverse dance education accessible to everyone. What started as a small studio built around community and culture has grown into a movement of artistic training, performance, and connection—rooted in South Asian dance traditions and branching into contemporary expression.
Led by artistic director Devanshi Mishra, Oorja's philosophy blends rigorous technique with passionate creativity. We envision a space where dancers of all ages, backgrounds, and levels can explore Bollywood, Kathak, semi-classical, and contemporary styles, without barriers.
In Chandigarh, Oorja quickly became more than a dance studio, it became a home for artists. We hosted classes, workshops, dance battles, cyphers and showcases that drew students from across the city, each one eager to belong, to grow, and to shine. Over the years, we've had the privilege of training over 3,500 students, nurturing not just dancers but confident performers and creative thinkers.
Our reputation grew beyond the studio walls. We performed for high-profile clients including the Pro Kabaddi League, Samsung, and the Indian Army, bringing South Asian artistry to major stages and events. From choreographing grand weddings to producing music videos and commercial campaigns, Oorja became synonymous with excellence, authenticity, and innovation in dance.
As our vision expanded, Oorja Danceworks made the bold move to GTA, bringing our commitment to accessible, dynamic dance training to a new community hungry for cultural connection.
Oorja offers a full training curriculum in GTA alongside performance opportunities, community collaborations, and mentorship. Our goal remains constant: to honor dance's cultural roots while breaking new ground.
